A project by Light Bridges in support of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias and the University of Sydney
a researcher in Astrophotonics interested in a professional internship in AUSTRALIA (Sydney) with a fellowship.
The research will be coordinated and organized by Light Bridges, in collaboration with the ICEX Trade and Investment, the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias
and SAIL Labs / Institute of Photonics and Optical Science / University of Sydney.
The internship will be conducted with the team of Dr. Sergio Leon-Saval , an internationally renowned expert in Astrophotonics.
- Experience in optics/electronics and programming skills in Python are essential for eligibility.
- Experience in photonics and machine learning is highly desirable.
Economic support in the form of a grant of 42,500 euros per twelve months.
You must have vocation and research capacity in astrophotonics, excellent deduction and induction skills, orientation towards science and technology, ability to integrate into a scientific team in the host country. Proactive and autonomous nature.
Mentoring from Light Bridges and collaboration with foreign and Spanish professional astronomers.
English language proficiency equivalent to C1 level is required, without the need for an official certificate.
Tutors during the Fellowship: Dr. Sergio Leon-Saval (SAIL Labs), Dr. Luis Fernando Rodríguez-Ramos (IAC) and Dr. Antonio Maudes (Light Bridges).
As a recipient of the "Light Bridges Advanced Fellowship" your main responsibilities will be:
Developing collaboration and research skills at the host institution.
Training in the knowledge of the local, regional, and multilateral science system, both in Spain and in the country of fellowship development.
Monitoring and proposing, if applicable, joint opportunities in the science system in the field of astrophotonics and its related technologies.
Training and participation in the development and control of the robotic telescopes of the "Two-meter Twin Telescope" (TTT) and other science projects of Light Bridges.
Supporting Light Bridges' Internationalization Plan at the destination.
The selected candidate will carry out a minimum of six months of Fellowship at
SAIL Labs, Sydney, Australia
in a stimulating and enthusiastic work environment, with researchers and students from various countries.
The Fellow will also collaborate with the appropriate IAC Research Group to carry out the investigations,
and may enjoy a preparatory stay at the
Observatorio del Teide (Tenerife) Spain,
to get acquainted with the Two-meter Twin Telescope capabilities, managed by
Light Bridges.
The IAC is a
Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence
since 2011, a prestigious recognition granted by the Spanish government
to leading research centers.
